Debbie's Staffing is seeking an OHSE Manager for our Reidsville, N.C. client!
Pay Rate: $108,000–$116,000 annually BOE
Job Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, requires flexibility
Job Summary
Plans and directs environmental, health, and safety activities for the Reidsville location to achieve and maintain compliance with governmental and company policies, procedures, and regulations. This position protects and promotes the environmental health and safety of all coworkers and the surrounding community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and ensure a culture of “Safety First.”
  • Offer expertise on machine guarding, control of hazardous energy (LOTO), confined space, working at heights, lifting equipment, fire prevention, hazardous materials, and electrical safety.
  • Evaluate OHSE compliance, report on compliance status, recommend corrective actions, and implement or support the implementation of Global and Regional Directives.
  • Ensure plant OHSE coworkers maintain and update procedures and policies in accordance with local, regional, and governmental regulations.
  • Provide leadership, support, and training to site personnel while maintaining all safety training programs.
  • Enforce use of safety equipment and counsel coworkers to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports.
  • Monitor injury rates and Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Facilitate safety training or coordinate outside consultants for training such as LOTO, RCRA, HazCom, and other required annual procedures.
  • Establish protocols for and oversee testing (e.g., noise levels, air quality) required at each site.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and recommend procedures for Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) to ensure safe evacuation and medical attention while minimizing financial and human resource losses.
  • Facilitate forklift training for operators to qualify for licensing.
  • Coordinate hearing tests for coworkers as required.
  • Manage all safety PPE, including but not limited to: issuing prescription eyewear and safety shoe vouchers, ordering, and controlling PPE and janitorial supplies.
  • Assist management in preparing the annual safety and health budget.
  • Develop and monitor emergency action plans to ensure compliance.
  • Perform environmental and safety audits to ensure compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Serve as liaison to federal, state, and local authorities for environmental and safety compliance, including air quality, emissions, stormwater, waste management, and OSHA.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as required by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; Master of Science preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in an OHSE manufacturing environment.
  • Certification or formal training in related regulatory agencies and OSHA.
  • Experience with ISO 14001:1996, OHSAS 18001:1999, and ISO 9001:2000 highly desirable.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements
  • This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, stooping, and reaching.
  • Must be able to balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires hearing and speaking, use of close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
