JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Quality Control Inspector
Department: Quality Control (Screw Machine Shop)
Shift: 1st Shift 7 am to 3:30 pm
Pay Rate: $19Hourly. Temp to hire.
Position Summary: Perform all inspection activities related to purchased or manufactured materials, and packaging.
Essential Functions:
Provide inspection services in one or more inspection functions (Set up verification, production monitoring, final inspection)
Determine the acceptability of purchased materials and manufactured parts. This includes the regular monitoring of machines during production.
Accurately report the findings using the current systems (this may include retention of samples, preparing paper reports and/or using software to report labor and data).
Work with other departments to ensure awareness and communication of product and material issues.
Promote, enhance and improve the Quality Management System.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and interpret all drawings, specifications and external documentation necessary to determine the acceptability of product.
- Ability to accurately use small mechanical inspection tools (i.e. micrometers, force gauges, calipers and electrical meters) needed for assigned inspection function.
- Ability to document the results of inspection, including electronic records. This would include Inspection plans, first piece inspection, retained samples, Non-conforming Material Reports.
- Ability to sample product using standard inspection plans.
Desired Skills
- Ability to use Visual Measurement Machines.
- Ability to set up inspection plans and SPC programs in Excel.
- Ability to program VMM and Programable force gages.
- Ability to develop Inspection Plans by identifying characteristics on drawing and entering tolerances into inspection plan templates.
- Ability to interpret statistical control data.
- Lean manufacturing principle application.
Other Accountabilities:
- Perform similar work-related duties as required. This may include training, housekeeping, lean team activities, risk assessment activities, and corrective actions.
- As this is a support position for the Screw. Aditional duties may include but not limited to:
- Counting and Packaging of cleaned parts for the General Warehouse.
- Loading bar stock into machines under the direction of the screw machine operator.
- Cleaning chip from manufacturing machines under the direction screw machine operator.
- Other duties assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the Screw Machine shop on second shift.

Qualifications:
- Three years related experience.
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to be trained on computer software.
Immediate Supervisor: Quality Control Manager – Dotted line authority Screw Machine Shop foreman.
