Debbie's Staffing has three immediate opportunities available for knowledgeable Safety Support Specialist!
These are Long Term, Possible Temp-Hire positions in Martinsville, VA!
Hours are:
8:30am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday (Flexibility needed when we orientations are on 2nd shift)
Pay $20.00/hr. minimum
Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Support Specialist who will be in dual role position that coordinates the implementation and maintenance of the management systems for both the health and safety program and the Human Resources program. The incumbent position will be responsible for assisting in Worker Compensation processing, planning implementation, providing training and monitoring implementation progress. In addition, this position will be responsible for the preparation of bi-weekly payrolls and benefit administrations. Provide administrative support.
Essential Functions:
- Provide employee support to the various shifts in Martinsville (1st, 2nd & Weekend Shift).
- Maintains various databases & files relating to Workers Compensation and injury reporting.
- Creates and maintains site specific reference manuals, standards, policies, procedures and work instructions that fall under Safety.
- Responsible for consulting with management team about company policies and procedures, and whenever else necessary.
- Carries out the duty of developing & monitoring employee recognition activities.
- Develop & implement various Health and Safety programs.
- Evaluate & audit internal Health and Safety programs.
- Report all reportable accidents to the Safety Manager and monitor the claims management process.
- Develop & delivers training programs, including initial employee orientations.
- Reporting both internally & externally (as required).
- Facilitates site Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives.
- Creates and maintains site specific reference manuals, standards, policies, procedures and work instructions that fall under Health and Safety. Develops, maintains and controls distribution of site standards, reference manual and materials.
- Maintains various files, databases & programs relating to Health and Safety, including, contractor management.
- Liaison between Manager and weekend team employees
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalency required; higher education preferred
- One year of experience in a similar role preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs strongly preferred
- Company specific software used is PKMS and Execution Dashboard, experience is preferred
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals
- Work independently and as a team member
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+ years
- A minimum of 3 years general experience in the Health Safety field or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- 3-5 years or more administrative experience
- Experience working in Distribution industry is a plus!
