General Labor / Utility Worker

Debbie’s Staffing is now recruiting associates for our client located in Danville, VA!
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 5:00am– 3:00pm / Overtime mandatory as needed
Pay: $15.08 per hour.
Job Summary: General production worker to perform variety of tasks
Essential Functions:
Check Specifications
Plan for production activities by getting correct pallet and/or carton sizes and preparing proper labels
Follow procedures for all slitters, bandsaws, die cutter, panel line, core machine and other support equipment
Assist Bandsaw
Assist Slitter
Assist Die Cutter
Assist Glue line
Assist Panel line
Assist Core Machine
Wrapper
Assembly
Shredder/Bailer
Other equipment as necessary
Bundle and tie according to the specifications
Ensure orders are prepared to the correct length, width, thickness, bundle amounts and skid amounts
Prepare skids neatly and place the label correctly
Perform housekeeping duties, including the removal and replacement of full scrap buggies
Understand and follow safety requirements; Daily, Monthly, Annually
Practice safe work habits such as having guards in place
Follow proper emergency procedures
Follow proper lifting techniques
Wear cut resistant gloves and sleeves when handling blades
Show leadership through self-motivation and support of/and cooperation with others
Use decision-making skills to effectively organize and plan
Responsible for assisting with material handling
Responsible for training and working closely with temporary labor
Other duties as described by the supervisor
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to products and processes
Identify and record any problems relating to products and processes
Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
Position Requirements:
- Ability to communicate with management and co-workers to meet departmental goals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
- Ability to understand written and oral instruction.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to multi-task and follow through on requested tasks
- Background Check/Drug Test
