Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with housing stability initiatives designed to prevent homelessness and reduce housing insecurity.
• Conduct housing orientation sessions for new participants entering Housing Authority programs.
• Help residents identify pathways to economic mobility, employment, education, and asset building.
• Coordinate with internal departments and community partners to address housing-related concerns and service needs.
• Track program outcomes and performance metrics to support agency goals and HUD benchmarks.
• Maintain HUD Counselor Certification and complete all required continuing education and training requirements.
• Provide comprehensive housing counseling services in accordance with HUD regulations, agency policies, and program guidelines.
• Conduct resident assessments and develop individualized action plans to promote housing stability and self-sufficiency.
• Provide referrals to community resources and supportive services as needed.
• Maintain accurate case files, client records, and required documentation.

Required Skills and Abilities

• HUD Certified Housing Counselor designation required.
• Knowledge of HUD housing counseling standards, regulations, and program requirements.
• Understanding of affordable housing programs, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) programs, and Fair Housing laws.
• Strong case management, problem-solving, and client assessment skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and customer service skills.
• Experience with budgeting, credit counseling, and financial education.
• Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports accurately.
• Proficiency in housing management software, client tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
