Material Handler
 
Debbie's Staffing is looking for a Material Handler for our client in Winston Salem, NC.
 
Hours: Monday- Friday and every other Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm
 
Pay rate: $15.00 per hour, Weekly Pay!

Job Summary:
  • Inspect meat and frozen products for damage, expiration dates, recalls and temperature requirements to determine if the product meets safe food handling guidelines and is safe for human consumption
  • Sort product according to product type and repackage according to guidelines
  • Accurately, efficiently and safely store products on racking and in refrigeration units
  • Properly dispose of product that does not meet food safety guidelines
  • Ensure the shopping freezers are well stocked, orderly and clean
  • Maintain a system that adheres to FIFO rules by placing first received product in front
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels in order to build TEFAP frozen food orders 
  • Utilize safe handling of all warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, to avoid personal injury to self, others and damage to property
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area at all times
  • Comply with policies and operating procedures for all food safety programs
  • Participate in other Food Bank duties and activities as assigned
  • Work with and oversee volunteers
 
Requirements:
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Drug testing and criminal background check required for employment
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with Safety Policies
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance
  • Able to work in a freezer (will be pulling frozen items from a freezer, throughout the day)
  • Able to walk, sit, stoop, squat, and stand for long periods of time
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to perform job duties
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people
  • Able to maintain harmonious relationships with volunteers
